Harvey suffered from Alzheimer's disease for twelve years, gradually taking away his memories and abilities before taking his life. Alzheimer's is the most common type of dementia. There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025. This will soar to 2 million by 2051. Alzheimer's Society funds important research into developing a cure, while providing many support services to sufferers and their carers. They also work towards changing society to become more understanding of those suffering with dementia.
